Rolling with Ron
Searching for great sausage rolls across NZ - Taste experiences 8,9,10,11,12,13
I have been significantly remiss in that I have not published a review of any sausage roll since 31 October 2024. Now I have not stopped testing sausage rolls; it just means that I have not published any reviews because I spent so much time travelling, and writing about my travels, meaning writing sausage roll reviews has been put to one side. Time then to stop procrastinating.
It’s also interesting that I recently read that someone has started an online review tool for pies in New Zealand. This once again shows me that sausage rolls are being treated as a poor cousin, and therefore I need to get back on track.
Rather than write separate reviews of the six sausage rolls I have tasted, I think it’s better to catch up all in one review, so here goes.

Overall results so far (to April 2025)
The two clear leaders are Butchers Pies in Christchurch and Jimmys Pies in Roxburgh. They are two different sausage rolls but, in my mind, cannot be separated.
Brilliant, and unlike the mean pies app, your rating aspects are well defined.
Cheers for taking 1 (or 2 or 3...) hits for the team!
